Step 1: Connect to the Router

The first step is to connect to the router. Make sure that the router is properly connected to your computer or laptop using an Ethernet cable. Once you have established a connection, open Winbox, and click on the "Connect" button to establish a connection with the router.

Step 2: Configure the IP Address

The next step is to configure the IP address of the router. Go to the "IP" tab and select "Addresses" from the drop-down menu. Here, you can see the current IP address of the router. Click on the "Add New" button to add a new IP address.

Enter the IP address you want to assign to the router, along with the subnet mask and the network interface. Click on the "Apply" button to save the changes.

Step 3: Configure the DHCP Server

After configuring the IP address, the next step is to set up the DHCP server. Go to the "IP" tab and select "DHCP Server" from the drop-down menu. Here, you can configure the settings for the DHCP server.

Make sure that the "Enabled" checkbox is checked, and then configure the IP pool range that will be used for assigning IP addresses to connected devices. You can also set the lease time and other options as per your requirements.

Step 4: Configure the DNS Server

The next step is to configure the DNS server. Go to the "IP" tab and select "DNS" from the drop-down menu. Here, you can configure the settings for the DNS server.

Make sure that the "Allow Remote Requests" checkbox is checked, and then enter the IP address of the DNS server that you want to use. You can also add additional DNS servers as per your requirements.

Step 5: Configure the Firewall

The last step is to configure the firewall. Go to the "IP" tab and select "Firewall" from the drop-down menu. Here, you can configure the firewall settings for the router.

Make sure that the "Enabled" checkbox is checked, and then add the rules for allowing or blocking traffic as per your requirements. You can also set up NAT rules and other options as per your requirements.

That's it! You have successfully configured the basic settings for your MikroTik Router using Winbox. You can now connect your devices to the router and enjoy a fast and secure network.
