MikroTik Router VLAN Configuration Segmentation Made Easy
Hey y'all!
Today we're talking about configuring VLAN and Bridge on MikroTik. This can seem daunting at first, but don't worry - we've got you covered!
First, what is VLAN?
VLAN stands for Virtual Local Area Network, which is a way to create separate and isolated network segments within a larger network. VLANs allow for more efficient use of network resources and increased security by limiting access to specific segments.
Now, let's configure VLAN on MikroTik:
- Open Winbox and connect to your MikroTik router.
- Select "Bridge" from the left-hand menu and click the plus sign to create a new bridge.
- Give your bridge a name and click "OK".
- Select the "Ports" tab and add the interfaces you want to include in your bridge by clicking the plus sign and selecting them from the list.
- Click "Apply" and then "OK" to save your changes.
- Now, select "VLAN" from the left-hand menu and click the plus sign to create a new VLAN.
- Give your VLAN a name and ID, and select the bridge you created earlier as the interface.
- Add any additional ports to your VLAN by selecting the "Ports" tab and clicking the plus sign to add them.
- Click "Apply" and then "OK" to save your changes.
- Finally, enable VLAN tagging on your switch ports by selecting "Interfaces" from the left-hand menu and opening the settings for each port. Under "VLAN", select the VLAN you just created and click "Apply".
Next, let's configure Bridge on MikroTik:
- Open Winbox and connect to your MikroTik router.
- Select "Bridge" from the left-hand menu and click the plus sign to create a new bridge.
- Give your bridge a name and click "OK".
- Select the "Ports" tab and add the interfaces you want to include in your bridge by clicking the plus sign and selecting them from the list.
- Click "Apply" and then "OK" to save your changes.
