MikroTik RouterOS VPN Troubleshooting Tips And Tricks

MikroTik VPN Configuration with PPTP is a powerful tool for black entrepreneurs who want to protect their businesses online. This configuration will allow you to connect remote clients to your network, so you can share files and collaborate without worrying about security breaches.

Here's how you can set up MikroTik VPN Configuration with PPTP:

Step 1:

First, make sure you have MikroTik RouterOS installed on your router. You can download it for free from the MikroTik website. Once you have installed RouterOS, log in to your router and navigate to the "IP" menu. Then, click on the "Pool" option and create a new address pool. This pool will be used to assign IP addresses to remote clients who connect to your VPN server.

Step 2:

Next, navigate to the "PPP" menu and click on the "Profiles" option. Create a new profile and name it "PPTP". In the "Local Address" field, enter the IP address of your router. In the "Remote Address" field, enter the address pool you created in step 1. Under the "Auth" tab, select "chap" and "mschapv2". Under the "Encryption" tab, select "yes".

Step 3:

Navigate to the "PPP" menu again and click on the "Secrets" option. Create a new user and password for each remote client who will connect to your VPN server. Make sure you select the "PPTP" profile you created in step 2 for each user.

Step 4:

Now, navigate to the "Firewall" menu and click on the "NAT" option. Create a new rule and name it "PPTP". Under the "General" tab, select "chain=srcnat" and "out interface=all-ppp". Under the "Action" tab, select "masquerade". This rule will allow remote clients to access the internet through your VPN server.

Step 5:

Finally, navigate to the "PPP" menu and click on the "PPTP Server" option. Enable the server and select the interface you want to use for the VPN server. Under the "Authentication" tab, select "mschapv2". Under the "Profile" tab, select the "PPTP" profile you created in step 2. Under the "Extras" tab, select "add-default-route" and "use-peer-dns".

Conclusion:
