Setting Up Your VPN Server

In order to set up your VPN server, you'll first need to access your Mikrotik device. Once you're logged in, follow these steps:

  • Select "IP" from the main menu.
  • Select "Pool" from the sub-menu.
  • Click "Add New Pool."
  • Enter a name for your pool (e.g. VPNPOOL).
  • Enter an IP range for your pool (e.g. 192.168.1.100-192.168.1.200).
  • Click "OK."
  • Select "PPP" from the main menu.
  • Select "Profiles" from the sub-menu.
  • Click "Add New Profile."
  • Enter a name for your profile (e.g. VPN).
  • Set "Use IPSec" to "required."
  • Set "Use Encryption" to "required."
  • Set "Authentication" to "mschapv2."
  • Click "OK."

Configuring Your VPN

Once your VPN server is set up, you'll need to configure your client devices to connect to it. Follow these steps:

  • Select "PPP" from the main menu.
  • Select "Secrets" from the sub-menu.
  • Click "Add New User."
  • Enter a username and password for your VPN user.
  • Make sure "Service" is set to "pptp."
  • Click "OK."
  • Select "Profiles" from the sub-menu.
  • Click "Add New Profile."
  • Enter a name for your profile (e.g. VPN).
  • Set "Use Encryption" to "required."
  • Set "Use IPSec" to "required."
  • Set "Authentication" to "mschapv2."
  • Set "Use Compression" to "no."
  • Set "Address Pool" to the IP range you specified earlier.
  • Click "OK."

Connecting to Your VPN

Now that your VPN is configured, you can connect to it using your client device. Follow these steps:

  • Open the VPN client on your device.
  • Select "New Connection."
  • Enter a name for your connection (e.g. Mikrotik VPN).
  • Enter the IP address of your Mikrotik device.
  • Enter your username and password.
  • Select "IKEv2" as the protocol.
  • Click "Connect."
